Tashkahomma Clan of Choctaw Indians
Descendants of Tuskahoma and Simon P. Jones
Descendants of Tuskahoma and Simon P. Jones
In the name of God—the Great Father—and in honor of our ancestors, we seek to reunite the descendants of Tuskahoma and Simon P. Jones, so that our family may grow and prosper as one.
We pray that through this union we may cultivate a culture that is both modern and forward-thinking, yet firmly rooted in the traditions of our ancestors. We reject the colonial philosophy of “personal independence,” and instead encourage a return to the Indian way—a way that embraces our sacred roles as caretakers of the Earth, our brother’s keeper, and as a people who live and work together as members of a tribe.
We are dedicated to strengthening a tribal and family way of life, structured in the traditional manner of the Choctaw iksa (clan). We believe this path will serve as a source of inspiration and hope not only to our people, but also to our brothers and sisters throughout the world.
The Jones, Mangum, Russell, Hamilton, and Raynor families—among others—have united to form a family clan in honor of Tuskahoma Jones, the grandmother and ancestor of all these related Jones lineages.
Working together, these Jones descendant families have established trusts and acquired private lands and commercial real estate in Oklahoma, Texas, and Ohio. The goal for these trusts and land acquisitions is to be able to provide our kindred with blessings and new opportunities for advancement. With these funds and on these lands, we will offer low- and no-cost housing, employment opportunities, grants for small businesses, educational services, and recreational activities. While continuing to empower our centralized family community in middle and southern North America we will also facilitate the rise of new families and iksas (clans) wherever our family might grow.
Since 2023, nearly $1.2 million in private funds have been raised, and multiple parcels of land have been acquired for the cause of reuniting the descendants of Tuskahoma and Simon P. Jones.
Our recent move into the public space via our events, website, and social media is one to give back to our family and people, not to ask or require anything from them. We do not collect any dues or membership fees for our organization or family.
Our endeavors are funded entirely on a volunteer basis. We have never sought—nor will we ever seek—membership or outside financial support. While many of our family members are enrolled citizens of Native Nations or members of the Choctaw Freedmen, we have never pursued, nor will we ever pursue, federal or state recognition.
We are a Choctaw clan—a family. Since we opened our membership rolls in 2025, we have reached and reunited 14 family members across 3 different families which had, until that time, been lost to us. All we are missing is you!
The Jones family and the cadet branches of Mangum, Russell, Raynor, Hunter, and more are returning to Oklahoma and Texas having secured new lands and opportunities for the families of Tuskahoma and Simon P. Jones and their descendants!
